Response of Steel Structures to Blast Loads
The objective of this research is to conduct a comprehensive and critical literature survey about the response of steel members and structures to blast loads. The outcome of such a survey would be the separation of facts from hypotheses and conjectures and the identification of knowledge gaps with regard to the response and ultimate resistance of steel structures to blast loads. Interim recommendations to the CSA Standard Committee will be made.

Biography
Dr. A.G. Razaqpur is the Effective Design Chair professor and chair of the Department of Civil Engineering at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He is also Director of the Centre for Effective Design of Structures at McMaster. Before joining McMaster University in 2005, he taught for 22 years at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, where he served as Associate Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research.
Professor Razaqpur is a fellow of: the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering, Engineering Institute of Canada and the Canadian Academy of Engineering. He is a former president of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering and a former Associate Editor of the Journal of Cement and Concrete Composites. Professor Razaqpur also chairs the technical committees of the CSA Standard S806-02: Design and Construction of Structural Components with Fibre Reinforced Polymers and the CSA Standard S850- Blast Resistant Design of Buildings.
Professor Razaqpur’s research interest includes advanced nonlinear analysis of reinforced concrete structures, design and construction of reinforced concrete structures with FRP, design of structures against blast, and advanced modeling of the deterioration processes of concrete structures, including chloride diffusion, carbonation and steel corrosion.
