The Steel Structures Education Foundation is pleased to provide resources to educators teaching steel design in Schools of Architecture and Engineering across Canada.
Educator's KitSSEF understands that educators need to have up to date resources in order to be able to effectively teach steel construction. New professors teaching steel courses should contact SSEF in order to be added to our mailing list and receive complimentary teaching materials, handbooks, CD-ROMs, videos, as well as notices about upcoming education meetings and competitions.
Visiting SpeakersRegional representatives of CISC are also available to visit schools to give talks on steel construction. These can be tailored to suit different levels of students or subject areas. Please contact your local CISC office to arrange a visit.
SSEF Educators MeetingsEvery other year, SSEF sponsors a meeting of Architectural and Engineering educators to foster an exchange of ideas, research, case studies and teaching. Representatives from each Engineering and Architecture School are invited to the SSEF Joint Architecture and Engineering Educators Meeting. In 2006 the meeting was held at the Telus Centre at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. The 2004 meeting was held in Montreal, and in 2002 the meeting was held in Toronto.
Please stay tuned for information on the upcoming Joint Engineering and Architectural Educators Meeting which is to be held in Toronto in February/March 2008. The venue will be located downtown so that participants might be able to tour some of the outstanding recently completed steel projects such as the ROM, OCAD, Leslie Dan School of Pharmacy, AGO and Opera House.
